Old St. Beghians v The School

St. Bees Golf Course, 13th September 2007

This match, which was revived last year, was played again on Old St Beghians' Day over nine holes. The fixture is greatly appreciated by the pupils and school and two members of the school team rushed back to play after an away rugby match in the morning.

The Golf course proved as difficult as ever but was surprisingly playable despite all the heavy rain, although there was very little run on the fairways compared to Silloth the day before.

The match was played as single matches over nine holes after lunch and before tea. The Old St. Beghians won. It was good to see a young girl playing and it is to be hoped with the new Academy that golf will continue to improve and be encouraged in the school.

The OSBGS won the match 2 wins, 1 loss and 3 halved:

Anthony Fox v Ethan Spedding - lost
Calder Fenwick v Alistair Mackintosh - halved
Adrian Peckitt v Ricky Bewsher - halved
Chris Lamont v Simon Graham - won
David Johnston v Chloe Smart - won
Andrew Johnston v Adam McNicholas and Rob. Carlyle - halved

It is hoped to maintain this fixture, and the suggestion is that this should be in the summer before the summer half term.
