E. J. PRIESTLEY (SH 41-45) draws attention to his latest book:
“At St. Bees, history, taught by Mr T. A. Brown, was my best subject and after National Service I read this at Edinburgh University. Having then joined the Royal Army Educational Corps I was stationed for several years at the Institute of Army Education at Eltham Palace in the borough of Greenwich, where I became interested in the history of the palace, later gaining an MPhil. on this subject from the University of London.
Eltham Palace, within its ancient moat, now consists of a luxurious 1930s mansion attached to a restored great hall built for Edward IV, the only building to survive from many others built and rebuilt over a 300 year period of visits by royalty and the court. Phillimore have now published my ‘Eltham Palace’, a fully referenced study of events and aspects of the history of the place.”
