Reverend Richard Michael Clarkson (G 51-57) died on 14th April 2023.

Tim Brown (G 53-59) writes:

I was sorry to read of the death of Mike Clarkson on 14th April. He was ahead of me on Grindal, but at a time when one looked on senior boys in awe (if not in fear!) Mike went against the grain. He was always friendly and supportive. I remember the infant son of Sam and Margaret Parkinson, Michael, knocking on the studies door and asking if Mr Clarkson would come out to play - and he obliged, possibly fishing in Pow Beck.

He was a true Lancastrian and began his ministry at St Anne’s on Sea in the Fylde, I believe. I saw him on the odd occasion, but he was a good friend of Bill Greetham (G 53-58), who succeeded him at St Anne’s, and I learnt about his whereabouts from him. Michael taught at a number of schools as well as serving ministries in Lancashire and Sussex. He was a good chap, loved and respected by many.
